We view community-building as a series of opportunities — an almost countless series of opportunities — to create something that inspires people. There are big opportunities, such as our Town Center building designed by world-renowned architect Antoine Predock. And there are little opportunities, such as the architectural touches that will make even the alleys here look great.
The homes of Mesa del Sol will honor Albuquerque’s most prominent styles: Pueblo Revival, Contemporary Southwest, Territorial, Northern New Mexico, Spanish Eclectic and Craftsman. The sheer variety of architectural detail and color will result in rich, inviting street scenes. Garages will be tucked back from the front of the homes, if not placed behind the homes altogether. And our architectural guidelines extend to even finer points, such as making sure that homes on corner home sites have an appropriate level of detail facing both streets.
Office and retail buildings, as well as parks and open spaces, will receive the same level of consideration. It’s difficult to describe all the artful ideas, big and small, that have gone into the plan for Mesa del Sol. But in an immensely artistic city like Albuquerque, we could do no less. |
