Just as we’ve put together a master plan for things like utilities, parks and transportation in Mesa del Sol, we’re also building a master plan for education here. A significant portion of the plan is dedicated to creating great neighborhood schools — public, private and charter. Education is simply too important to the Albuquerque community to do otherwise. But we’re also working with local colleges and universities, as well as companies that are locating in Mesa del Sol, to offer educational opportunities that go far beyond K-12.

Take the University of New Mexico’s film school, for example. It will be located adjacent to the Mesa del Sol Town Center building. We’re helping the school with funding for faculty. Albuquerque Studios and Sony Imageworks, which will be across the street from the film school, have committed to supporting it with internships, workshops conducted by visiting artists and other programs.

It’s an amazing collaboration that promises not only to provide an education but a whole career path … right in the neighborhood.
